Some more ...

Cactus excitement

I am beginning to get myself ready for some new work,
for two shows now. These photos were taken at Cambridge Botanical Gardens, in the big glasshouse, such an exciting place to see, going from one extraordinary plant form to another.

Then found some other cactus inspired textiles, another chapter in this story of restarting the creative machine ... will post more as the wheels begin turning.

Sharpie Tattoos

Idle moments in the sun, sharpies work beautifully on skin but do not last in this sweaty heat!

And happy dancing in the kitchen, exuberant Tom and Ellen taking a break from making cushions ...

Bird bath

Made a week ago, a bird bath mosaic.

July Marsh Photos

To feed my idea to do some small landscapes, I went out today to take some photos of the abundant growth that is on the marsh at this time. The air is still today and everywhere your eye lands is something exquisite and beautiful until as when walking around a gallery you reach a point where it is almost too much and your senses are overwhelmed with it all. These were only taken with my mobile camera but they are enough to record this day where everyone of my senses has been caressed...

Getting there ...

So soon the 'city ' will be finished, and hopefully in the shops before Christmas.
Looking through my folder of inspiration and I am afraid there are no links to where I found them. But how many of us have that clear memory of these little wooden buildings, and were lost for hours fingering the little rough figures and speaking in soft voices for the characters, creating complicated life situations and city reconstructions in the twinkling of an eye ... yet it was not complicated, it was so simple, there was a lady, and a man and some goats and sheep, they had a couple of kids and a great little house, and could have another when they felt like it, they lived on jammy dodgers, and they were deeply in love and you could grow a forest of adjustable trees in your neatly fenced garden .... happiness, simple.

When does that dream bubble burst?

Some work from the past

It is about time I put up some of my work. These were made back in 2004! A series of fabric constructions which followed a flowing path, one leading to the other naturally.

A recent roar ...

Scottish twist

I have been sorting through the hundreds of photos on the computer and finding some that I had forgotten. They wave their hands, 'look at me'! remember? I am taken to that place in a split second and every sound, sight and smell assails me instantly ... This beautiful log was lying in a woodyard, full of visual delights, in Scotland last year.

Back

I have been taking some time out, and so not writen here for some months. But been busy trying a new thing, something I would never have thought I would. This mosaic has been constructed for my friend Charlotte, from the mountains of broken china hurled into her chicken run for the last twenty years. It is now going to be a table top for the garden. It has been quite lovely to master...
